What’s New: The September 2026 Redesign

A tour of the September 2026 extension redesign for returning users, covering the new interface, AI writing tools, and safety features.

If you used contactID before September 2026, the biggest change is the interface itself.

1. Four Tabs Instead Of A Popup

The old popup is gone. contactID now opens as a side panel with four tabs across the top: Setup, Agent, Targets, and Send, plus a fullscreen button for a full-tab view.

2. Sheets Instead Of Popups

Settings, the AI wallet, Advanced Export, the plan picker, and the Feature Guide now open as sheets that slide over your current tab, instead of separate popup windows.

3. A Real Avatar

Your avatar in the top right now shows your actual Google profile photo if you signed in with Google, and opens the account menu on hover or click.

4. A Credits Meter You Can Act On

A credits meter sits just under the header. Click it and it opens Plan & Billing directly, so checking your balance and topping up are one click apart.

See the installing the extension article for the full breakdown of the new interface.

You can now have contactID draft your outreach message for you.

1. Describe Your Offer

Write a short brief describing what you are offering, then pick a tone, a length, and a goal for the message.

2. Get Three Drafts

contactID returns three ready-to-send drafts, each with its own subject line, written using your real merge tags such as {{fullName}}, {{company}}, and {{website_name}} so they personalize correctly the moment you send.

3. It Won’t Overwrite You By Accident

If you already have a message written for that agent, contactID asks before replacing it, so an AI draft never silently overwrites work you already did.

contactID ships with 12 proven message templates you can start from instead of writing from scratch.

1. Filter By Niche

Templates are filterable by niche, including agencies and freelancers, SaaS, local services, e-commerce and wholesale, recruiting, PR and content, consulting, events and sponsorship, and general outreach.

2. Bracketed Hints

Each template includes [bracketed] hints marking exactly where to personalize it for your offer, so you know precisely what to edit before sending.

A live score now sits under the message editor: Good, Fair, or Needs work.

1. What It Flags

  • Too many links.
  • ALL CAPS text.
  • Spam-trigger phrases.
  • Missing personalization.
  • Leftover [hints] you forgot to fill in.
  • Length issues.
  • A shouty subject line.

2. It Only Warns

The Deliverability Check never blocks sending. It is there to help you catch mistakes before they go out, not to gate your batch.

The Form Coverage card scores how many contact forms your current sender profile can actually fill, based on the fields it has data for.

1. See What You’re Missing

It ranks which fields to add next to raise your coverage the most, and gives you a one-click Add button for each one, right from the card.

Before you run a batch, contactID now checks whether your account has already submitted to any of the websites in your queue, on any device.

1. Your Choice, Every Time

For every website you have already contacted, you can Skip it, Skip all of them at once, or Keep them in the run anyway. Nothing is skipped automatically; you decide before the batch starts.

You can now run two or more senders against the same batch as a split test.

1. Set Your Split

Choose the percentage of the batch each sender receives.

2. Watch It Live

Each sender’s success rate updates live on the Send tab as results come in, so you can see which one is winning and shift more of the split toward it.

Importing a large list of websites now shows a live feed of progress instead of a blank wait.

1. What It Shows

The current stage, how many websites have been checked, the rate they are being processed at, and an estimated time left.

2. Hide It Or Cancel It

Click Hide to collapse the panel and keep working elsewhere while the import continues, or click Cancel Import to stop it.

Before running a full batch, you can check exactly what will be sent.

1. Preview On A Site

Pick any queued website and see your exact message with every merge tag filled in with that site’s real data.

2. AI Samples

With AI enabled, you can run the real AI once for a single queued site to see precisely what it would generate and send for that website, before committing to a full run.

Two smaller but useful changes shipped alongside the redesign.

1. Your Google Photo, Everywhere

If you sign in with Google, your Google profile photo now appears as your avatar throughout the extension, not just in one place.

2. A Real Analytics Detail View

The Analytics detail view for every submission now records the exact field values contactID typed or selected, including name, email, message text, and which checkbox was ticked, instead of a placeholder screenshot.

Plans and credit packages are now browsable right inside the extension, in the plan picker sheet.

1. Nothing Changes Until Payment Succeeds

If your card is declined during an upgrade, your plan, your billing date, and your credits stay exactly as they were. Nothing changes on your account until payment actually goes through, so a failed charge never leaves you in a half-upgraded state.

Version 3.6.0 brought a batch of smaller improvements alongside the redesign.

1. New Since 3.6.0

  • A new “My lead lists” section on the Targets tab.
  • “Find websites near you” on the Setup tab, for discovering new targets without leaving contactID.
  • A Lead credits row in the credits meter.
  • Lead merge fields for imported businesses.
  • Cookie and consent dialogs are now dismissed even when they load inside a frame.
  • Required choice groups and job-function dropdowns are now filled automatically.
  • Stricter detection of whether a form was actually sent, reducing false completions.
  • A Retry option right on a failed website’s card in the Send tab.

2. New Since 3.6.1 (September 17, 2026)

  • The More menu has a Find websites entry under Dashboard that opens the Find websites page signed in.
  • The Find websites headline now reads “Businesses with a website, by category and city”: the contact-form filter is optional.
  • Each city card shows Already yours and New to take beside the count, and the MAX quick pick only takes businesses that are new to you.
  • With no lead credits, the Unlock buttons become Get lead credits, opening the Credits tab directly.
  • Results the extension couldn’t report during a network problem are kept and sent later, so your Analytics never miss a send.
  • The Google photo in the extension no longer turns into a letter after you open the dashboard.
  • Find websites: a per-category count on every city card, a proportional split of your quantity across categories, “What” and “Where” marked required, “Filters” collapsed by default, and a moving unlocking card showing the stage, the current city, and an estimate.
  • Referrals: approving a held referral pays what the hold withheld, refunds within 30 days reverse subscription rewards, and a paused program is shown on the Referrals page.
  • Gift links: clearer eligibility rules, no gift on top of a paid plan, redeeming while already signed in.
  • Emails: one-click unsubscribe, and referral or gift milestones can now trigger an email.
