Gift Links
Redeem and share gift links, learn how expiry works and surrender a gift early.
Gift links are shareable URLs that grant a paid DMpro tier for a bounded duration, free. Someone gives you a link, you click it, sign up, and you have full paid access for weeks or months without ever entering a card. Here is the full picture.
1. What A Gift Link Looks Like
A gift link is a URL like:
dmpro.brandid.app/gift/abc123def4
Where abc123def4 is a unique 10-character code. Anyone with the link can redeem it (subject to the link’s rules).
2. Who Creates Gift Links
Gift links are typically created by:
- DMpro admins. Used for partnerships, press comps, community giveaways.
- Brand partners. Distributed to influencers or agencies as part of collaboration.
- Support goodwill. Occasionally issued to users experiencing issues.
Regular users cannot create their own gift links from the dashboard. This is admin-only functionality.
3. What A Gift Grants
Each gift link grants a specific:
- Tier. Starter, Growth, Professional, or Enterprise.
- Billing cycle. Monthly or annual (affects the feature bundle you get).
- Duration. Bounded, e.g., 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year.
For example: “Growth tier for 90 days” or “Enterprise for 1 year”.
4. What A Gift Doesn’t Cost
Gift redemptions:
- No card required.
- No Stripe charge.
- No auto-renewal.
When the duration ends, you auto-downgrade to free tier. Zero surprise charges.
5. Who Can Redeem A Gift
- New DMpro signups. Redeem during signup. Standard case.
- NOT existing subscribers. If you already have an active Stripe subscription, gift redemption is blocked.
- NOT flagged accounts. Users flagged by the fingerprint anti-abuse system cannot redeem gifts.
6. Gift Link Landing Page
When you visit a gift link, you see a preview page:
- The tier granted.
- The duration.
- The retail value of the gift.
- A “Claim Your Gift” button.
Clicking Claim takes you to signup (if new) or the dashboard (if already logged in).
7. Multiple Redemptions Per Link
Gift link admins can set:
- Max redemptions. Cap on total redemptions across all users. Once hit, further users see “All gifts claimed”.
- No cap. Unlimited redemptions until the link expires.
8. Link Expiry Vs Gift Expiry
Two different concepts:
- Link expiry. After this date, no new redemptions. Existing gifts continue to their natural expiry.
- Gift expiry. For each redemption, the date the paid tier ends and you auto-downgrade.
9. Gift Links Vs Coupons
- Coupons are codes you type at checkout for a discount or bonus. Usually monetary.
- Gift links are URLs that grant a tier without any Stripe checkout at all. Free-plus-time-bounded.
Different use cases, different flows.

Redeeming a gift link takes about 60 seconds. Here is the flow from opening the link to using your gifted tier.
1. Open The Gift Link
Someone shares a URL like dmpro.brandid.app/gift/abc123def4. Click it. You land on the DMpro gift landing page.
2. See What You’re Getting
The landing page shows:
- The tier. E.g., “Growth.”
- The duration. E.g., “Free for 90 days.”
- Generations included. E.g., “2,000 per month.”
- Retail value. What this would normally cost.
- A “Claim Your Gift” button.
3. Click Claim Your Gift
Click the button. What happens next depends on your account state:
- Not logged in and no DMpro account: You are redirected to the DMpro signup with the gift code pre-attached. Sign up with email + code.
- Not logged in but have an account: You are redirected to the login page. Sign in.
- Already logged in and never subscribed: Gift is applied immediately.
- Already logged in and have an active Stripe subscription: You see an error: “Gift links can’t be applied to accounts with active subscriptions.”
4. Complete Signup (For New Users)
If you’re a new user:
- Enter your email.
- Receive a 6-digit verification code.
- Enter the code.
- Complete onboarding.
- Gift is applied at the end of onboarding.
The gift code is preserved throughout signup so you don’t need to re-enter it.
5. Redemption In The Extension
When installing the DMpro extension, an optional field lets you enter a gift code. Enter the 10-character code and continue with signup. The gift applies after your onboarding.
6. What Happens After Redemption
- Your account is instantly upgraded to the gifted tier.
- Your credit balance shows the tier’s monthly amount.
- A congratulatory popup appears in the dashboard.
- An email confirmation is sent.
7. Gift Redemption Confirmation Popup
The popup shows:
- 🎁 emoji + welcome text.
- Tier + duration.
- Generations included.
- Expiration date.
- Dismiss button.
You can dismiss it any time. It doesn’t reappear once dismissed.
8. Where To See Your Active Gift
- Dashboard → Payments: A green banner shows “Gift active. Growth for 90 days. Expires [date]”.
- Dashboard → Overview: Credit balance shows the gifted allocation.
- Extension: Same credit balance shown.
9. What Can’t Be Redeemed
Some gift links are rejected:
- Link is expired. See error “This gift link has expired.”
- Link has hit max redemptions. See “All gifts on this link have been claimed.”
- Link was deleted by admin. See “This gift link no longer exists.”
- You already have an active subscription. See “Gift links can’t be applied to accounts with active subscriptions.”
- You’re fingerprint-blocked. See error about multi-account block.
10. Extension Redemption Flow
When redeeming in the Chrome extension:
- Open the extension.
- Click Sign Up or Sign In.
- On the email screen, expand Have a gift code?
- Enter the 10-character code.
- Continue with normal signup.
DMpro previews the tier and duration as you type the code. Green means valid; red means invalid.
Related questions:
Two different expiries govern gift links: the link expiry and the gift expiry. Here is what each means and how they interact.
1. Link Expiry
Every gift link has an optional expiry date set by the admin who created it. After this date:
- New redemptions are blocked.
- Users visiting the link see “This gift link has expired.”
- Existing redemptions are UNAFFECTED. They run to their natural gift expiry.
Some links have no expiry set; they stay redeemable indefinitely (until the admin explicitly disables them).
2. Gift Expiry
When you redeem a gift, your account gets the tier for a bounded duration. The gift expiry is when that duration ends. For example:
- Gift = “Growth for 90 days.”
- Redeemed on Jan 1.
- Gift expiry: April 1.
3. What Happens At Gift Expiry
On the gift expiry date:
- Your tier auto-downgrades to Free (10 free credits, which do not renew).
- Subscription-style credits from the gift zero out.
- One-time credits you had before the gift are preserved.
- Any coupons you had accumulated stay.
- Your account is otherwise unaffected.
You get an email 3 days before expiry as a reminder.
4. Preventing Downgrade
If you want to continue using DMpro at the same tier after your gift expires:
- Subscribe to Stripe. Any time during your gift. Your gift stays active; the Stripe subscription starts after gift ends.
- Buy one-time credits. Extends your usable credits beyond the gift.
5. Renewing A Gift
Gifts don’t auto-renew. Once expired, they’re done. If you want another gift, contact the source (the admin who gave you the link) for a new one.
6. Extending A Gift
Admins can extend a specific redemption’s expiry with +N days or shorten it with -N days. This is a support-side tool. If you have a legitimate reason to request an extension (partnership renewal, etc.), contact your admin contact.
7. Revoking A Gift Early
Admins can revoke a gift redemption before its natural expiry. If revoked, you drop to free tier immediately. You’d receive an email notification.
Revocations are rare and usually for policy violations. Contact support if you think a revocation was made in error.
8. Multiple Gifts On One Account
You can only have one active gift at a time. If someone shares a second gift link with you while your first gift is active, the second link is blocked. Options:
- Wait for the first gift to expire, then redeem the second.
- Ask the sender to give you the second gift after your first expires.
- If you want to swap (surrender the current gift for the new one), see “Surrendering A Gift Link Early”.
9. Timezone Handling
Both link expiry and gift expiry are computed in UTC. Your local timezone is used for display but not calculation. A gift expiring “December 31” typically ends at 00:00 UTC on January 1.
10. Grace Period
No grace period on gift expiry. When the gift expires, you drop to free tier immediately.
Related questions:
When your gift’s duration ends, you auto-downgrade to free tier. Here is exactly what changes and how to prepare.
1. What Changes On Expiry Day
On the exact date/time your gift expires:
- Tier drops to free. Free has no monthly credit allowance.
- Subscription-style credits from the gift zero out. You go from 2,000 (Growth gift) to 10 (free).
- Features from the paid tier disable. For example Auto Email (Growth and up) and the higher email limits (Professional and Enterprise).
- Connected account limit drops to free tier’s 2.
- Priority support ends. You use standard support.
2. What Stays After Expiry
- Your account. Not deleted.
- Your prompts. All preserved. You can still use them on free.
- Your one-time credits. Kept forever.
- Your campaigns. Still in dashboard. Running campaigns pause with
out_of_credits. - Your coupon wallet. Any coupons stay.
- Your Instagram/TikTok connection. Preserved.
3. Email Notifications Leading Up To Expiry
- 7 days out: “Your DMpro gift expires in 7 days. Consider subscribing to continue.”
- 3 days out: “Your gift expires in 3 days.”
- On expiry: “Your gift has expired. You’re now on free tier.”
Manage in Notification Preferences.
4. Preventing The Downgrade
Options:
- Subscribe to Stripe. Any time during your gift. When gift expires, subscription takes over. You keep the tier’s features without interruption.
- Buy one-time credits. Doesn’t preserve features but keeps you sending after gift ends.
- Ask sender for another gift. Rare but possible.
5. Running Campaigns At Expiry
If a campaign is running when your gift expires:
- Immediately after expiry: Credit balance is 10 (free tier).
- Campaign continues but drains 10 credits fast.
- When at 0: Campaign transitions to
out_of_credits. - Pending usernames are marked accordingly.
To keep a campaign running past gift expiry, subscribe before the gift expires.
6. Data Preservation
Nothing gets deleted at expiry:
- Sent messages remain in your Activity Log.
- Analytics data is preserved.
- Prompts, campaigns, settings all remain.
You can resume on free tier or later resubscribe seamlessly.
7. Resubscribing After Expiry
Any time after expiry, you can subscribe:
- Dashboard → Pricing → pick a plan.
- Stripe Checkout.
- Subscription active immediately.
- Full tier features restored.
Your account picks up where it left off. No re-onboarding needed.
8. If You Want To Stay On Free
You don’t need to do anything. Just keep using DMpro with the 10 free credits (they do not renew). Fine for casual use.
9. Gift Expiry Vs Subscription Cancellation
Different behaviors:
- Gift expiry: Auto-downgrade to free. No action from you needed.
- Subscription cancel: Also auto-downgrade at period end. You initiated it.
Both result in free tier. Cancellation is user-initiated; gift expiry is time-based.
Related questions:
Gift links are for new signups only. If you got a gift link and can’t use it, or want to share the promotion, here is what’s possible.
1. Gift Links Are For New Signups
Gift redemption only works if:
- You are a new DMpro user (no account yet).
- OR you have an account but never subscribed.
If you have an active Stripe subscription, gift redemption is blocked. So a gift link “for you” is really only useful if you’re not currently paying.
2. Sharing A Link You Received
If you received a gift link but already have an active subscription, you can share it with a friend who’s a new DMpro user:
- Copy the URL (looks like
dmpro.brandid.app/gift/abc123def4). - Send it to them via DM, email, or however.
- They redeem it when signing up.
Note: some gift links have a max redemption cap. If it hits the cap, further redemptions fail. Check with the sender if you can.
3. What DMpro Does When You Click A Gift You Can’t Use
If you’re already-logged-in AND have an active subscription:
- DMpro shows a toast: “Gift links are for new signups. Save this link for a friend.”
- Your session isn’t affected.
4. Sharing With A Newly-Signed-Up Friend
- Get them to sign up first (or during the redemption).
- Send them the gift link.
- Or, they can enter the gift code in the extension signup flow (the “Have a gift code?” field).
5. Can I Buy Someone A Gift?
Currently, DMpro doesn’t have a “buy this gift” flow for regular users. Gift links are admin-issued only.
If you want to buy DMpro for a friend:
- Pay for their subscription directly. Sign up with their email + your card.
- Give them a coupon. If you have coupons in your wallet that transfer.
- Ask about custom gift links. For Enterprise deals, custom gift arrangements can be set up. Contact [email protected].
6. Referral Codes Vs Gift Links
- Referral codes are personal to you and work as coupons.
- Gift links are shareable URLs that grant a tier without Stripe.
Referral codes can be shared freely to new users, who get a discount and give you bonus credits. See “Referral Coupons: Sharing Your Personal Code”.
7. Ethical Sharing
When sharing gift links:
- One redemption per person. Don’t try to redeem the same link twice with different emails; the fingerprint system will block.
- Real people only. Don’t sell links or spam them.
8. Multiple Gifts To One Person
A single DMpro account can only have one active gift at a time. If you share the link with someone who already has an active gift, they can’t redeem the new one until their current gift expires.
9. Sharing Publicly Vs Privately
Some gift links are meant for private sharing (partnerships, personal comps). Some are meant for public giveaways. Check with the source of the link before broadcasting.
Related questions:
If you want to end your active gift before its natural expiry, you can voluntarily surrender it. Here is when and how.
1. When To Surrender A Gift
Uncommon but possible reasons:
- Swapping for a new gift. Someone gave you a better tier gift and you want to switch.
- Wanting to subscribe fresh with a coupon. The coupon isn’t compatible with your current gift status.
- Personal or ethical reasons. You don’t want to keep using the gift.
Most users just let the gift run to expiry.
2. How To Surrender
- Go to Dashboard → Payments.
- In the Gift banner, click Surrender Gift Early.
- Confirm.
3. What Happens On Surrender
- Your gift is immediately revoked.
- You drop to Free (10 free credits, which do not renew).
- Any campaigns running are transitioned to
out_of_credits. - Your one-time credits stay.
- Your prompts and settings stay.
- A confirmation email is sent.
4. Cannot Un-Surrender
Once you surrender, the gift is gone. You cannot “undo” it. If you want the paid tier back:
- Subscribe to Stripe.
- Redeem another gift (if available).
- Buy one-time credits.
5. Interaction With Subscribing
If you plan to subscribe after surrendering:
- Surrender first, then subscribe. This ensures clean state.
- Or subscribe first (both gift and Stripe subscription active), then let the gift expire naturally.
Both work. Subscribing first is generally simpler.
6. Interaction With Redeeming A New Gift
If you plan to redeem a new gift after surrendering:
- Surrender first.
- Then click the new gift link.
- New gift applies.
You cannot redeem a new gift while an old gift is active.
7. Refunds On Surrender
Since gifts don’t cost you anything, there’s nothing to refund. Surrender is a one-way action with no financial impact.
8. Support Involvement
For unusual cases (Enterprise gifts with legal terms, gifts tied to partnerships), contact your admin contact or support before surrendering. Some gifts have terms that make surrender not straightforward.
