How to fix a campaign that is not sending

Work out why a campaign shows Running or Paused but no DMs go out, using the line on its card. Most fixes take a minute or two.

7 stepsUpdated October 2026

Before you start

  • A campaign that you started and that is not sending
1

Read the line on the campaign card

Open Campaigns and look at the live line under the status. It usually names the cause. The next steps go through each message.

If the status is Draft, nothing has been started yet: click Start.

2

“Waiting for the DMpro extension”

Nothing is picking the campaign up. Check that:

  • Chrome is open on a computer where the DMpro extension is installed.
  • The extension is signed in to the same DMpro account. Signing out of DMpro in the extension stops the campaign in that browser. It continues after you sign in again.

The extension picks a running campaign up within about a minute.

3

“Queued”, “Daily limit reached” or “Waiting before the next DM”

  • “Queued. It starts when [another campaign] finishes”: the extension runs one campaign at a time. Wait, or pause the other campaign.
  • “Daily limit reached for today”: the campaign continues after your midnight, as long as Chrome and the extension are open.
  • “Waiting before the next DM”: working normally. The card shows when the next DM is due.
  • “Retrying shortly (DMpro or a browser tab could not be reached)”: a short connection or tab problem. The extension tries again by itself.
4

Check for Paused and Out of Credits

A Paused campaign needs Resume. An Out of Credits campaign needs credits and then Resume. It does not restart by itself when credits arrive. The card’s Get credits button opens your options, and the boxes on the card show your balance and what is still needed.

All campaigns share your account’s credits, so one campaign using them up can pause the others.

5

Update the extension if it asks you to

If the card says “Your DMpro extension needs an update to send your own DM”, the extension is too old for own DM campaigns. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and press Update, or reinstall DMpro from the Chrome Web Store. Then keep Chrome open.

6

Open View Details when people fail

If people end up Failed or Skipped, click View Details and read the Reason column. Check that you are signed in to Instagram or TikTok in the same Chrome. A restriction on your platform account is the most common cause when sends that used to work start failing.

DMpro does not detect Instagram or TikTok blocks, so it will not pause a campaign for you. If you see a warning on the platform, pause your campaigns yourself and see How to recover after an Instagram block.
7

Check whether it runs in another browser

A campaign runs in one browser at a time. The first Chrome with the DMpro extension that picks it up keeps it, and the card says “This campaign is already running in another browser, so it keeps running there.” Another browser takes over only if that one stops reporting for about 3 minutes.

Tips

  • Keep Chrome open for the whole run. Closing it pauses sending, and a DM that was in flight is marked interrupted and never resent.
  • Test with a short list first. It is the quickest way to see whether the extension, your login and your credits all work.
  • If you also send single-profile DMs yourself, Safety Mode and campaign limits do not apply to those.

If something goes wrong

The extension is open but the card still says it is waiting.

Make sure the extension is signed in to the same DMpro account that owns the campaign, then wait up to a minute. If another Chrome profile or computer has the extension running, that one may already have the campaign.

Every DM fails.

Check you are signed in to Instagram or TikTok in that Chrome and that you can open a conversation by hand. If sends suddenly fail after working, the platform may have restricted your account. Pause the campaign and read the failure Reason in View Details.

Some profiles never get a DM.

Some accounts do not accept DMs from people they do not follow, and sending fails for them. Those people are marked Failed and are not retried.
