How to connect Claude Code to contactID
Add contactID to Claude Code with one terminal command, then sign in from the browser. It takes about 3 minutes.
Before you start
- A contactID account you can sign in to
- Claude Code installed, and a terminal
- A computer with a browser, for the sign-in
Open AI Assist and copy the address
In the dashboard at https://contactid.brandid.app/, open Account in the sidebar and choose AI Assist (MCP). Open the Apps tab. On the right is the panel Connect an AI app.
Press Copy next to the address, which is:
https://contactid.brandid.app/mcpUnder Steps for your app, press Claude Code to see the steps for that app.

Run the command in your terminal
In a terminal with Claude Code installed, run this command (you can use the Copy button in the panel):
claude mcp add --transport http contactid https://contactid.brandid.app/mcpThis adds contactID to the project you are in.
Make it available in every project (optional)
To have contactID in every project, add --scope user to the command:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user contactid https://contactid.brandid.app/mcpSign in with /mcp
Start Claude Code, then run:
/mcpChoose contactid. A browser window opens on a contactID page. Sign in. If you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, enter the 6-digit code contactID emails you.
Choose what Claude Code may do and press Allow
On the contactID page, choose View only, View and manage or Custom. If you are unsure, start with View only.
Because Claude Code returns to a program on your own computer, contactID marks it Known app (shown as Known app on this computer on the AI Assist page). contactID knows where the sign-in returns, not which program asked, so continue only if you just started Claude Code yourself. Then press Allow. If a connection page opens that you did not start, press Cancel.
Try a first request
In Claude Code, ask something that only looks, for example:
List my Agents and tell me which one is the default
Then open Account, AI Assist (MCP), Apps in the dashboard to see Claude Code under Connected apps.
Tips
- contactID asks you before anything that reaches people or spends credits, and nothing is sent unless you start sending or say yes.
- The same command works in any folder: run it once with
--scope userand you do not need to repeat it per project. - Sending and checking websites happen on your computer. For an AI app to add websites or send, keep Chrome open with the contactID extension signed in to the same account, and keep Let AI apps use contactID on this computer on in Settings, Sync & AI access. See the dashboard and the guide on letting AI apps use your computer.
If something goes wrong
The sign-in does not open or contactID is not connected
Run /mcp again in Claude Code, choose contactid and sign in in the browser that opens. If it still fails, check the address is exactly https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp, remove the server and add it again.
Claude Code asks me to connect again
The connection ended after 90 days, 30 days unused, a new password, or a disconnect. Run /mcp and sign in again.
A request says it cannot reach my computer
Open Chrome with the contactID extension signed in to the same account, and check Let AI apps use contactID on this computer is on in Settings, Sync & AI access.
