AI Assist (MCP)

How to connect any other AI app to contactID

Any AI app that connects to remote MCP servers with a sign-in can use contactID. You add one address and sign in. It takes about 3 minutes.

Before you start

  • A contactID account you can sign in to
  • An AI app that can add a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) with a sign-in (OAuth)
1

Open AI Assist and copy the address

In the dashboard at https://contactid.brandid.app/, open Account in the sidebar and choose AI Assist (MCP). Open the Apps tab. On the right is the panel Connect an AI app.

Press Copy next to the address, which is:

https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp

Under Steps for your app, press Other apps to see the steps for that app.

2

Add the address as a remote MCP server

In your AI app, find where you add MCP servers or connectors. Add the address as a remote MCP server of type Streamable HTTP:

https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp

Give it a name such as contactID. You do not need to enter any keys: the app finds the sign-in by itself.

3

Sign in on contactID’s own page

When the app asks, a contactID page opens. Sign in. If you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, enter the 6-digit code contactID emails you (Confirm it is you). The page shows the app’s name and the address it will return to; check they look right.

You always sign in on contactID’s own page. The AI app never sees your password.
4

Choose what the app may do and trust it only if you started it

Choose View only, View and manage or Custom. If you are unsure, start with View only.

contactID marks Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and VS Code as Verified or Known app when they sign in as expected. For any other app, tick I trust this app and I started this connection myself before you allow it. Only connect apps you added yourself.

Then press Allow. If a connection page opens that you did not start, press Cancel.

5

See what the app can do

In the dashboard, open Account, AI Assist (MCP) and the Abilities tab. It lists what a connected app can do. Its For developers part has the technical details, if the app asks for them.

6

Check the connection

Open the Apps tab. Your app is listed under Connected apps with what it may do, and you can press Change access or Disconnect on it at any time.

Then ask the app something that only looks, for example Show me my Agents.

Tips

  • An app that registers itself may return only to a website, to your own computer, or to a known editor or AI app.
  • Anything that reaches people or spends credits asks you first, and nothing is sent unless you start sending or say yes.
  • Sending and checking websites happen on your computer. For an AI app to add websites or send, keep Chrome open with the contactID extension signed in to the same account, and keep Let AI apps use contactID on this computer on in Settings, Sync & AI access. See the dashboard and the guide on letting AI apps use your computer.

If something goes wrong

The app cannot connect

Check the address is exactly https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp and that the app supports remote MCP servers (Streamable HTTP) with sign-in. Remove contactID in the app and add it again.

contactID says it does not allow this app

That app is blocked for every account. Write to [email protected].

The app asks me to connect again

The connection ended (90 days, 30 days unused, a new password or a disconnect). Connect it again.
