How to connect ChatGPT to contactID
Add contactID to ChatGPT as an app so ChatGPT can work in your account. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes.
Before you start
- A contactID account you can sign in to
- ChatGPT on the web, on a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace if you want it to change things
- On Pro, ChatGPT can only look things up. Free and Plus cannot add custom apps
Open AI Assist and copy the address
In the dashboard at https://contactid.brandid.app/, open Account in the sidebar and choose AI Assist (MCP). Open the Apps tab. On the right is the panel Connect an AI app.
Press Copy next to the address, which is:
https://contactid.brandid.app/mcpUnder Steps for your app, press ChatGPT to see the steps for that app.

Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT
In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Apps (called Connectors in older versions), then Advanced settings. Turn on Developer mode.
On a Business workspace, a workspace admin may need to allow Developer mode first.
Create the contactID app
- Choose to create an app.
- Name it
contactID. - Paste the address you copied:
https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp - Keep the sign-in on OAuth.
Sign in and choose what ChatGPT may do
When ChatGPT asks, a contactID page opens. Sign in. If you signed in more than 10 minutes ago, enter the 6-digit code contactID emails you (Confirm it is you).
Choose what ChatGPT may do: View only, View and manage or Custom. If you are unsure, start with View only. Then press Allow. If a connection page opens that you did not start, press Cancel.
Add contactID to a chat and ask
In a ChatGPT chat, open the + menu and add contactID. Then ask for something safe to begin with, for example:
Show me my Agents and what each one says
Anything that reaches people or spends credits asks you first, and nothing is sent unless you start sending or say yes.
Confirm it in contactID
Back in Account, AI Assist (MCP), open Apps. ChatGPT is listed under Connected apps with its access. Use Change access there to widen or narrow it later.
Tips
- ChatGPT’s own plan is separate from contactID. AI Assist itself is free, but what an app does uses the same credits as when you do it yourself.
- Codex, which shares ChatGPT’s account, connects with two commands instead. See the guide on connecting Codex.
- Sending and checking websites happen on your computer. For an AI app to add websites or send, keep Chrome open with the contactID extension signed in to the same account, and keep Let AI apps use contactID on this computer on in Settings, Sync & AI access. See the dashboard and the guide on letting AI apps use your computer.
If something goes wrong
ChatGPT will not let me add an app
Developer mode must be on, in a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace. Free and Plus plans cannot add custom apps, and Pro can only look things up. On Business a workspace admin may need to allow Developer mode first.
contactID does not show in the chat
Add the app from the + menu in the chat you are using.
The app cannot connect
Check the address is exactly https://contactid.brandid.app/mcp and the sign-in is on OAuth. Remove contactID in ChatGPT and add it again.
