Notifications & Emails
Which emails contactID sends, what payment failure emails look like, and how to fix emails landing in spam.
contactID sends a small number of emails, all from our own address.
1. Sign-In And Security
- Your 6-digit sign-in code (the same code confirms a new account), and password reset codes.
2. Billing
- A reminder when a plan renewal payment fails, when the contactID team has that journey switched on. It carries the same unsubscribe link as tips. Stripe retries the card on its own schedule.
- Stripe sends payment receipts when receipts are switched on in Stripe; plan payments also get an invoice, which you find in Stripe’s billing page from Plan & Billing.
3. Getting Started And Tips A welcome email once you finish setting up your account, plus a short onboarding series after you sign up (how to create a sender, import websites, and send) and occasional tips. The onboarding, tips and billing reminder emails have an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and unsubscribing stops all of them, billing reminders included. Sign-in and password reset codes always arrive because you need them.
4. Not Sent There are no weekly summary emails, no import-completion emails and no notification preference page in the current version. Results live in the extension and on the Analytics page.
5. Milestones That Can Trigger An Email Referral moments (a friend joined, activated or subscribed; a welcome bonus you received), gift moments (a gift applied, a gift ending in three days, a gift that ended) and Find websites moments (a search counted; a list saved, unlocked or sent to the extension; lead credits under 20; a lead pack bought) are recorded on your account and can trigger an email when that journey is on. These emails have the same unsubscribe link as tips.

1. What You Can Control Every onboarding, tips, payment reminder, referral or gift email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom; clicking it stops all of these emails for your address. The same emails carry the standard one-click unsubscribe header, so the Unsubscribe button in Gmail, Apple Mail or Outlook works too.
2. What You Cannot Turn Off Sign-in codes and password reset codes, because they are needed to use the account. The welcome email is sent once and has no unsubscribe link. Payment reminders belong to the emails above, so after unsubscribing, check Plan & Billing yourself if a renewal might fail.

When a plan renewal payment fails, here is what happens and what you will see.
1. What Happens Right Away
- Your plan is marked as payment due, and the credits meter in the extension shows Payment Due.
- Nothing is taken away: your plan’s websites stay usable while the payment is retried, and sending is not blocked.
- A first payment that fails at checkout changes nothing and sends nothing; the plan simply does not start.
2. Retries Stripe, our payment processor, retries the card automatically on the schedule set in Stripe. contactID runs no retries of its own and has no fixed grace period. If a retry succeeds, the plan is active again.
3. Emails contactID records every failed renewal and every recovered payment on your account. An email goes out only when the contactID team has a reminder journey switched on for these moments. Such an email has the same unsubscribe link as tips, so if you unsubscribed you will not receive it. Depending on Stripe’s settings, Stripe may also email you about the failed charge.
4. If Every Retry Fails When Stripe ends the subscription, your account returns to pay-as-you-go:
- The plan’s monthly allowance stops.
- Unused websites from the plan move to your extra credits and stay yours.
- Credits you bought are kept.
5. Fixing It Open Plan & Billing on the dashboard and press Manage payment method to update your card on Stripe’s billing page. Once a payment goes through, the plan is active again. If the plan already ended, subscribe again from the same page.
6. Delivery contactID emails show the sender name contactID and go to your account email address. Add the address on their From line to your safe senders list, and check Plan & Billing yourself if you think a renewal might fail.

contactID does not email you when an import finishes.
1. Where To See Completion The progress panel in the extension shows the check live and switches to a completion summary (websites checked, ready, no form) with a Continue to sending button. If you closed the panel, the Targets tab shows the saved import with Resume and Discard when you come back.
2. Long Imports The server keeps your list, but the checking runs in your open side panel (or full tab). Closing it, or Chrome, pauses the import where it is. Open the side panel again and press Resume on the saved import to pick up where it left off.

1. Where To See Your Numbers The Send tab shows the current run; the Analytics page on the dashboard shows your success rate, sending and import activity by day, a fill status breakdown, the top failure reasons, your best days and hours to send, success by form platform, recent imports and every website with its details; the Usage page shows what you used.
2. Exporting Advanced Export in the extension produces a CSV, Excel, JSON, XML, HTML or Markdown file of the websites in that browser’s list, and Export… on the Analytics page exports your whole history as CSV or JSON, both on demand.

If contactID emails land in spam, it usually comes down to a couple of common issues. Here is how to diagnose and fix.
1. First Check: The Sender Address contactID emails show the sender name contactID. Open one of them (a sign-in code email works) and add the address on its From line to your safe senders / allowed senders list. Most email providers have this option in Settings. Also add our support address, [email protected].
2. Corporate Firewall Or Filter On corporate email systems, IT may filter automated emails aggressively:
- Check your Junk folder in your email client.
- Ask IT to allow the sending domain shown on the From line of a contactID email.
- Contact support if IT needs more details about the sending servers.
3. Gmail Promotions Tab Gmail may sort contactID emails into Promotions instead of Primary. Not exactly spam, but easy to miss:
- Drag one email from Promotions to Primary.
- Gmail asks if you want to always do this. Confirm.
- Future emails go to Primary.
4. Personal Filters Some users create filters that inadvertently catch contactID emails:
- Check your filters (Gmail: Settings > Filters).
- Remove or edit any that match “no-reply” or automated-looking senders.
5. New Sender Trust Email providers build trust in a sender over time. On first delivery:
- contactID might be treated conservatively.
- Confirming legitimacy (moving from spam to inbox, replying to an email) builds trust.
- After a few interactions, delivery normalizes.
6. Changed Or Broken Address contactID does not track bounces. If your account email no longer works, contact support at [email protected]: the email of an account cannot be changed from the account pages.
7. Verifying Delivery There is no delivery log in your account. Not sure if contactID sent something you expected? Request a new sign-in code and see whether it arrives, or contact support, who can check delivery on our side.
8. Still Not Receiving?
- Try a different email provider (gmail.com, outlook.com) temporarily.
- Ask support to change your contactID account email to the new one (it cannot be changed from the account pages).
- If contactID emails arrive there but not on your original address, the issue is on your original provider’s end.
Contact support if none of the above works. We can send you a test email and check delivery on our end.
