Find Websites

Find Websites

contactID’s built-in lead finder, it searches by category and city and builds your target list for you, no separate data provider needed.

Find Websites is contactID’s built-in lead finder. Pick a category, from about 4,000 available, things like restaurants, barbers, or dentists, and a city, and you can see the matching business count for free before spending anything.

Take the businesses you want and unlock them with lead credits, a balance that is separate from both your website credits and your AI wallet. Unlocked businesses land straight in your Targets list with their contact page already known, plus city, rating, review count, category, and business email attached as merge fields (see the lead merge fields answer on the importing target websites page).

The data comes from a continuously refreshed database built on Google Maps listings. You only ever deal with contactID, never a third-party data provider directly.

Where to find it:

  • The Find Websites page in the dashboard.
  • The Overview banner and sidebar card.
  • “Help me find websites” during onboarding.
  • “Start from a search” on the Launch page.
  • “My lead lists” on the extension’s Targets tab.
  • “Find websites near you” in the Setup checklist.

One lead credit equals one business delivered with a website into a list. There is no free welcome grant of lead credits, and no referral reward paid in lead credits either, that is different from website credits.

Three ways to get lead credits:

  1. Your plan’s monthly allowance, which does not carry over: Starter 100, Growth 500, Pro 2,000, Scale 5,000 per month.
  2. Packs that never expire: 100 for $5, 500 for $20, 2,000 for $60, 10,000 for $250.
  3. Credits an admin adds to your account, for example after a support case.

Counting matches, previewing results, and saving a draft are always free. Credits only move when you click Unlock, one credit per business actually delivered with a website (anything undeliverable is released back to you). Your plan’s monthly allowance is spent before any purchased packs.

Tip: Optional auto-recharge, off by default, buys a pack automatically once your balance drops below a threshold you set, at most once an hour.

Pick one or more categories (their counts add up) plus a country, then add cities. You can type any city, or click Add popular cities to pull in the 20 to 30 largest.

Filters available:

  • Has a contact page (on by default)
  • Exclude permanently closed (on by default)
  • Claimed businesses only
  • Has a phone number
  • Minimum rating
  • Minimum reviews

Has a website is always on, since a website is required to unlock a business into your list. Counts stream in per city as you search, each with 3 sample businesses shown, plus how many of them you already hold (Already yours) and how many are new to you (New to take). Once there is enough data, two quality hints also appear: the share of businesses with a contact form, and how often contactID users actually get through to them.

What and Where are required. The search runs by itself once both are filled in. Filters is optional and collapsed by default; open it by clicking the step header, and it stays open on that browser until you close it again.

Searching several categories at once. Each city card also breaks the count down by category (for example “1,003 restaurant · 23 hospital”), and shows how your chosen quantity will be split across them, in proportion to what each category has in that city, with at least one taken from every category that has businesses there. The split updates live as you change the quantity.

Set a quantity per city using the steppers or the quick picks (25 / 100 / 250 / MAX), then choose one of two paths:

  • Save selection for later. Creates a free draft, nothing is spent.
  • Unlock. Credits are reserved and businesses are fetched, often in seconds since the catalogue is checked first. If you’re short on credits, you’re shown exactly what’s missing and the pack that covers it, and the unlock continues automatically once you pay. A category that fails to fetch does not block the others, and you only ever pay for what is actually delivered.

Once a list is ready, click Send to extension to open the extension. It drops businesses with a known contact page straight into the queue, runs the normal contact-page check on businesses where only the home page is known, and sends a website shared by two businesses (like a franchise) only once. The exact numbers are reported on the Lists tab. You can also untick individual businesses to exclude them before sending.

While it unlocks. The card shows a moving bar with the number delivered so far, the current stage (Reserve, Ask provider, Receive, Finish), a line naming the city and category being fetched right now with its own count, the elapsed time and an estimate. It keeps moving on every machine, including Windows computers with animation effects turned off. You can leave the page; the list turns Ready on its own.

Several categories in one list. The unlock takes businesses from each category in proportion to what the city has, never only from the first category. If one category runs short, the difference is made up from the others.

A lead list moves through a simple lifecycle:

  • Draft. Saved, nothing spent. Can be unlocked, edited, or deleted.
  • Unlocking. Credits are reserved and businesses are being fetched.
  • Ready. Deliverable. Send to extension, download as CSV, run Find New Places, Duplicate, or Archive.
  • Imported. Sent at least once. Re-send, download, or archive.
  • Failed. Nothing could be delivered and credits were released back to you. Try again or archive.

Downloads include name, category, website, contact page, phone, business email, full address, rating, reviews, claimed status, technologies, language, coordinates, and the Google Maps id, plus a map view is available right on the list page.

No. Every unlock automatically skips businesses you already hold in any other list, and the MAX quick pick only ever takes businesses that are new to you. If fewer new businesses exist than you asked for, the difference is released back to your balance rather than charged.

Use Find New Places to rerun a city and category search from a Ready or Imported list, or from a saved search, and it will return only businesses you do not already have.

On the Enrich My File tab, upload your own CSV or XLSX of websites or phone numbers. Business names alone cannot be matched, matching requires a website or a phone number.

  1. contactID auto-guesses the matching column in your file.
  2. You get an upfront estimate of how many rows can be matched, and how many are already in the catalogue for free.
  3. You are charged one lead credit per successfully matched row. Unmatched rows cost nothing.

Files are limited to 5,000 rows. Every original column in your file is kept, plus newly added contact page, phone, business email, category, rating, and address fields. The result downloads as a CSV.

Packs are purchased on the Credits tab, or directly from the shortfall dialog when you are short mid-unlock, via Stripe. Credits are added the instant payment completes, and a waiting unlock continues automatically once your balance covers it.

Refunds of unused packs follow the same policy as website credits, contact support to request one. A refund removes the unused share of that pack’s credits from your balance.

Find Websites only stores public Google Maps listing facts, a business-level email (like info@, never a personal address), and the contact page URL. Data refreshes within 30 days and is not shared with other users beyond the same public listing appearing in their own searches.

Deleting your account removes your lists, searches, files, and lead credits too. See the privacy and data security page for full details.
