Sign In & Onboarding

Create an account, secure it, and understand how signID’s multi-workspace membership works.

Go to signid.brandid.app/signin and choose your preferred method. There is no separate “Sign up” screen: sign-in and sign-up use the same page, and if the email is new you land in a fresh workspace on the Solopreneur (free) plan.

You do not need to enter a credit card. You can start uploading and sending immediately, up to the free plan limits.

The default method. Enter your email, we send a one-time 6-digit code to your inbox, and you enter it to complete sign-in.

  • Codes expire after a short window (usually a few minutes). If your code expires, request a new one.
  • The code arrives from a signID system address. Check spam if it does not appear within a minute.
  • One code per request. Requesting a new code invalidates the previous one.

Once signed in, your session persists until you sign out or the session expires. You do not need a password for this method.

signID accounts are passwordless by default, but you can add a password if you prefer traditional login. Go to Settings → Security and click Set password.

Once set, you can sign in with email + password OR with an email code (either works). This is useful when you want to sign in on a device that does not have quick access to your email (a shared workstation, for instance).

Tip. Passwords must meet basic strength requirements. If your account has 2FA turned on, the password step is followed by the TOTP code step.

Click Continue with Google on the sign-in page. You’ll be redirected to Google’s OAuth consent screen, approve, and land back in signID signed in.

Google sign-in uses the email address on your Google account. If that email is already registered with signID via another method, both methods will unify onto the same account.

You can revoke signID’s Google access at any time from your Google account’s Security → Third-party apps with account access page.

signID supports TOTP (time-based one-time password) two-factor authentication for platform users. Go to Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication and click Enable.

You’ll see a QR code. Scan it with your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Bitwarden, etc.), then enter the 6-digit code the app generates to confirm.

Save your backup codes. signID generates one-time recovery codes when you enable 2FA. Save them somewhere safe (a password manager works well). If you lose your authenticator device, these codes are the way back into your account.

After 2FA is on, every sign-in requires the 6-digit code from your authenticator, in addition to your email code or password.

If you set a password and forgot it, click Forgot password? on the sign-in page. Enter your email, we send you a reset link, click it, and set a new password.

If you never set a password (i.e. you’ve been using the email code method), there is no password to reset. Just use the email code method to sign in.

Password resets do not affect any signed documents, envelopes, templates, or team memberships. They only change how you log in.

Click your profile avatar in the top right of the Desk, then click Sign out. Your session ends immediately.

If you’re signed in on multiple devices, signing out on one device does not sign you out on others by default. To sign out of every session at once, go to Settings → Security → Active sessions and revoke sessions individually or all at once.

A single signID account can belong to multiple workspaces (tenants). This is how you might, for example, have your personal workspace, be a member of your employer’s workspace, and be invited to a client’s workspace, all under the same email.

  • Each workspace is isolated. Envelopes, templates, team members, billing, and branding are per-workspace.
  • Your role can differ per workspace. You might be admin in one and viewer in another.
  • Free plan and paid plan can coexist. If your personal workspace is on Solopreneur but you’re a member of a Business-plan workspace, you can freely switch between them.

The workspace switcher is in the top-left of the Desk, usually showing the current workspace name and logo. Click it to see all workspaces you’re a member of; click any workspace to switch to it.

Switching workspaces changes what you see across the entire Desk (envelopes, templates, team, settings). It does not sign you out, so switching back is instant.

Tip. If you accept an invitation to a new workspace, refresh the switcher. New workspaces show up after your next sign-in or after clicking the switcher’s refresh action.

signID has two roles at the workspace level:

  • Admin. Full access. Can invite team members, manage billing, change branding, create and edit templates, send envelopes, view audit logs, and change workspace settings.
  • Viewer. Read-only in most areas. Can see envelopes and templates but cannot send, cannot invite team members, cannot change settings.

Role enforcement is applied server-side, not just in the UI, so a viewer’s API calls to admin-only endpoints will return 403 Forbidden.

Every workspace needs at least one admin. When the last admin leaves, ownership must first transfer to another member.

Signers, meaning people who receive envelopes but do not send them, get access to the signer portal at /my-documents. This portal lets them see every envelope they’ve ever received on signID, across every workspace that ever sent them one.

Signers sign in with an email OTP: enter the email that received the envelopes, get a code, view your documents. There is no password, no separate signer account.

Tip. If you’re both a sender and a signer (say, you send contracts to influencers on your workspace but you also occasionally sign one from a client), your signer portal and your Desk are separate views, but they share the same account.

The signer portal shows all envelopes you’ve received across every workspace, not just one. If Acme Corp sent you a contract via signID last year and Bright Studios sent you one this year, both appear in the same list.

Each entry shows:

  • The sending workspace’s name and logo
  • The envelope title
  • Status (signed, pending, declined, etc.)
  • Signed timestamp
  • Download link for the sealed copy and, if enabled, the completion certificate

This is useful if you signed something months ago and just need a copy. You don’t need to hunt through email, everything is in the portal.
