Billing & Payments
How DMpro payments, invoices, refunds, failed renewals, cancellations, pauses, and post-cancellation credits actually work.
Every DMpro payment, whether it’s a subscription, a one-time credit package, or a trial converting to paid, is processed by Stripe, one of the most secure payment providers in the industry. DMpro never sees or stores your card number.
The checkout flow
- You click Upgrade or Buy Credits in your DMpro dashboard.
- You’re redirected to Stripe Checkout, hosted on stripe.com.
- You enter your card details, or use a saved payment method.
- You click Pay.
- Stripe processes the payment.
- On success, you’re redirected back to your DMpro dashboard.
- Your subscription or credits activate within a few seconds.
What DMpro sees, and what it doesn’t
When Stripe processes your payment, it sends DMpro the fact that the payment succeeded or failed, the plan or package you bought, the last 4 digits of your card (for your billing history), and your billing email and country from Stripe’s customer object.
Payment methods, currency, and tax
Stripe supports credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay on supported devices), bank redirect methods depending on your country (iDEAL, Bancontact, SEPA, and others), and Buy Now Pay Later options like Klarna and Afterpay in supported regions. The exact options shown at checkout depend on your location.
Stripe charges in USD by default. DMpro’s pricing is quoted in USD everywhere; if your card is issued in a different currency, your bank converts at its own exchange rate.
Payment confirmation
On a successful payment you’ll get a Stripe receipt email to your DMpro account email within seconds, an in-app notification in your dashboard, and a real-time credit balance update.
If your payment fails right at checkout (before any subscription is active), Stripe shows an error immediately, whether that’s insufficient funds, a declined card, or an expired card. You can try again with the same card or a different one. No charge occurs on your DMpro account until Stripe confirms success, so there’s no risk of being charged for a failed attempt.
This is different from a renewal payment failing after your subscription is already active. For that scenario, see “What happens if a subscription payment fails?” below, which explains DMpro’s grace period and retry schedule.
Go to Dashboard β Payments and scroll to the Payment History section for a chronological list of every DMpro payment you’ve made.
Each row shows the date Stripe processed the payment, the total amount charged including tax, the type (subscription, one-time credit package, or trial conversion), the status (paid, refunded, or failed), the last 4 digits of the card used, and a link to download the official Stripe invoice as a PDF.
You can filter the table by date range (last 30 days, this year, or a custom range), by type (subscription vs one-time), and by status (successful vs refunded).
- Subscription payments appear monthly or annually, charged automatically.
- One-time credit package payments appear only when you actively buy one.
- Trial conversions appear on day 4 (monthly plans) or day 6 (annual plans) after signup, if you didn’t cancel first.
Refunded payments show a red “Refunded” badge, with the original charge amount still visible for reference and the refund amount shown separately. Failed payments show an orange “Failed” badge; if the failure was on a renewal, your subscription may be in a grace period (see below).
Click Export CSV at the bottom of the Payment History section to download every payment for accounting or bookkeeping.
Go to Dashboard β Payments β Invoices to see every invoice Stripe has issued you. Each invoice includes the invoice number, date of issue, amount with a tax breakdown, payment status (paid, open, or void), your billing details, line items for the plan or credits purchased, and DMpro’s business info (brandID Inc., Toronto, Canada).
Every invoice gives you two options: View opens the Stripe-hosted invoice page in a new tab (with payment status, a PDF button, and any refund info), and PDF is a direct download link to the PDF version.
Subscription renewals generate a new invoice automatically each billing cycle: 12 a year on monthly plans, just 1 a year on annual plans. Each one-time credit package purchase generates its own separate invoice.
Adding company details to invoices
By default, invoices only show your email. To add a company name, address, or tax ID (VAT number, GST number, and so on) for accounting purposes, go to Dashboard β Payments β Billing Info, fill in the fields, and save. This only applies going forward; past invoices aren’t retroactively updated.
DMpro doesn’t offer a bulk invoice download. Download each PDF individually, or export your full payment history as CSV and use the invoice URLs to bulk-download programmatically if you need many at once.
Stripe invoices are compliant with US IRS requirements, EU VAT invoice requirements, Canadian GST/HST invoice requirements, and most other countries’ basic invoice rules. If your accountant needs a field that isn’t on the invoice, contact support.
Invoices for all payments going back to your account creation are available. If you can’t find an old one, it may predate DMpro’s Stripe integration (very early users); contact support and we can generate a manual invoice.
One-time credit packages come with a 30-day money-back guarantee if the credits are unused, which gets you a full refund. If you’ve used part of the package, a refund of the unused portion may be considered case-by-case; contact support. After 30 days, no refund is available.
For example, if you bought a $49 Growth one-time package and used 100 of its 1,500 credits, you can contact support within 30 days for a prorated refund based on the unused credits.
Refund eligibility depends on your billing cycle:
| Plan type | Refund window | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | No refund guarantee | Free to cancel any time during a trial with no charge; once the trial converts, the charge is final. Cancelling mid-month keeps access until period end with no proration. |
| Annual subscription | 7 days from the annual charge | Full refund within the window. After 7 days, no refund, but access continues through the paid year. A cancelled annual plan keeps access through the end of the paid year. |
| One-time credit package | 30 days, if unused | See the previous question for details. |
Trials themselves don’t charge you. If you don’t cancel during the trial, the plan charge happens on day 4 (monthly) or day 6 (annual), and that charge then falls under the matching row above.
Chargebacks and disputes
If you dispute a charge with your bank instead of contacting DMpro first, DMpro is notified and your account may be temporarily suspended pending resolution while we respond to Stripe’s dispute process with evidence of usage. Wrongful chargebacks can result in permanent account suspension. Contact support before initiating a chargeback; most issues can be resolved without involving your bank.
When refunds are denied
Refunds are denied for requests made outside the eligibility window, for clear intent to abuse (heavy usage followed by a refund request), and for chargebacks initiated after the refund window has already expired.
Processing time and how to request one
Approved refunds take 5 to 10 business days back to the original card, or 2 to 3 business days for PayPal or a digital wallet. You’ll get an email confirmation once it’s processed. Partial refunds are also available for prorated unused portions (case-by-case) and for tax if you provide a valid tax exemption.
To request a refund, email [email protected] with your DMpro account email, the Stripe payment ID or invoice number, and the reason for the request. Standard response time is within 2 business days, and approved refunds process within 10 business days.
If a renewal payment fails, whether from insufficient funds, an expired card, or a blocked bank, DMpro doesn’t cancel your account right away. Stripe marks the payment failed, DMpro is notified, and your subscription enters past_due status. A 3-day grace period then begins.
During the 3-day grace period
You keep full access to your paid tier, sends continue as normal, and your credit balance stays as it was on your renewal day.
| Retry | Timing | Email you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Retry 1 | ~24 hours after first failure | “Your DMpro payment failed. We’ll try again tomorrow.” |
| Retry 2 | ~48 hours after first failure | “Your DMpro payment failed again. Update your card to avoid interruption.” |
| Retry 3 (final) | ~72 hours after first failure | “Final retry today. Your subscription will be cancelled if this fails.” |
Each email includes a link to update your payment method. To do that yourself, go to Dashboard β Payments β Update Payment Method, enter new card details, and Stripe re-attempts the charge immediately. If it goes through, your subscription reactivates and the past_due status clears.
If all three retries fail
After the 3-day grace period ends with no successful charge, your subscription is cancelled, you drop to the free tier (10 credits/month), and your subscription credit balance zeros out (one-time credits are unaffected). You can resubscribe any time from Dashboard β Pricing once your payment method is updated.
If a campaign is actively running when your subscription is cancelled, it keeps going but drains credits fast; once credits hit zero, the campaign moves to out_of_credits status until you resubscribe or buy one-time credits.
Common failure causes: an expired card (update to a new one), insufficient funds (add funds or switch cards), a bank block (some banks flag foreign or unusual charges; DMpro is based in Canada, so US or EU customers occasionally see this and may need to call their bank), or a cancelled card (get a new one and update).
Updating your card takes about 60 seconds. Go to Dashboard β Payments β Payment Methods, where you’ll see your currently-saved card and two ways to update it: Update Payment Method opens the Stripe Customer Portal in a new tab where you can add or replace a card, or Update Card Directly lets you enter new card details in an embedded Stripe form. Both routes save through Stripe with the same security.
The Stripe Customer Portal (hosted at billing.stripe.com) also lets you delete an old card, set a default payment method if you have multiple, update your billing address, and download past invoices.
You should update your card whenever it’s about to expire, when you want to change which card gets charged, when your billing address changes (for accurate invoicing and tax), or when your card has been cancelled or replaced, even if the new number looks similar.
Stripe supports multiple saved cards per customer, so you can keep a personal card and a business card and choose which is the default. To remove a card entirely, go to the Stripe Customer Portal β Payment Methods β Delete. If you delete your only card, DMpro can’t process future charges, and your subscription will eventually cancel if no new card is added.
Past charges already processed aren’t affected by an update. Pending charges, like a scheduled renewal, and an in-progress trial’s conversion charge, both automatically use the new card. If an update itself fails at Stripe (invalid card, wrong CVV), your old card stays active until you fix the issue and try again.
Cancelling takes about 30 seconds. Go to Dashboard β Payments β Cancel Subscription and click the button. DMpro shows a short cancellation form with an optional reason for cancelling and optional free-text feedback, then lets you choose between two options:
- Cancel at period end (default). Your subscription is marked to cancel on the last day of your current period. You keep full access and your credit balance stays until then, no further charges happen, and you drop to the free tier afterward.
- Cancel immediately (rare). Asks for confirmation twice. Your subscription ends now, access downgrades to free tier immediately, and a prorated refund for the unused portion may be offered case-by-case (not guaranteed for monthly plans). This is occasionally requested for security reasons.
If you cancelled but haven’t reached the end of your period yet, you can undo it: go to Dashboard β Payments and click Undo Cancellation on the pending cancellation banner. Your subscription continues at your current tier without interruption.
Cancelling during a trial has no charge and takes immediate effect, dropping you to the free tier (10 credits/month), from the same cancel flow.
What actually gets cancelled
Auto-renewal stops. Existing credits are preserved through the end of your current period, then subscription credits zero out; one-time credits are preserved forever regardless. Your account itself is not deleted; to remove your account entirely, see the account deletion article in this Help Center.
Optional cancellation reasons include too expensive, didn’t use it enough, Instagram/TikTok issues, prompt quality, missing a feature, just trying something else, or other (free text). This is anonymized and used to improve the product. For unique situations like an Enterprise contract or custom deal, contact support directly, since standard cancellation may not apply.
Yes. Instead of cancelling, you can pause your DMpro subscription for 1, 2, or 3 months. Pausing stops auto-renewal for that duration, doesn’t charge you during the pause, auto-resumes at the end, and preserves your prompts, campaigns, and settings the whole time.
To pause, go to Dashboard β Payments β Pause Subscription, pick a duration of 1, 2, or 3 months, and confirm. During the pause, there are no charges, access downgrades to the free tier (10 credits/month), one-time credits remain accessible, and your prompts and campaigns stay preserved.
When the pause ends, your subscription auto-resumes, your card is charged for the next month, your credit balance refreshes to your tier’s monthly amount, and all paid features unlock again. You’ll get a reminder email 3 days before the resume date.
Before a pause ends, you can extend it by up to 3 more months from Dashboard β Payments β Extend Pause, though total pause length can’t exceed 6 months; after that, DMpro either auto-resumes or cancels the subscription based on your setting. You can also resume early any time from Dashboard β Payments β Resume Now, which charges your card and reactivates the subscription immediately.
Pausing isn’t available during your initial trial, only on active paid subscriptions. If you decide to cancel while paused, your subscription ends at the current pause end date, not earlier. All paid plans (Starter, Growth, Professional, Enterprise) support pausing; it’s not available on the free tier.
The Stripe Customer Portal is a hosted page at billing.stripe.com where you manage payment methods (add, remove, set default), billing address, past invoices (view and download), and cancel or update your subscription if enabled. DMpro embeds a link to it for advanced billing management. Access it from Dashboard β Payments β Update Payment Method or Manage Subscription in Stripe; both open the portal in a new tab.
| Use DMpro’s dashboard for | Use the Stripe portal for |
|---|---|
| Viewing credits | Multiple payment methods |
| Cancelling your subscription | Detailed, all-time invoice history |
| Upgrading or downgrading | Downloadable PDF invoices for old payments |
| Viewing recent invoices | Billing address and tax ID (VAT/GST) updates |
The portal identifies you by your Stripe customer email, which is your DMpro account email, so you may need to enter it to authenticate. Portal sessions expire after 24 hours, so you’ll re-authenticate if you visit again later.
You can’t buy DMpro credits or plans, or change DMpro-specific settings, or view your generation credit balance from inside the portal. Anything DMpro-specific happens on the dashboard; anything payment-specific happens in the portal.
If you have multiple DMpro accounts (personal and business, for example), each has its own Stripe customer object, so access them separately from each DMpro dashboard. Enterprise customers may have a custom billing arrangement, like net-30 invoices, that bypasses the standard portal; contact your account manager for details.
Cancelling doesn’t immediately delete your credits. Each credit type behaves differently:
- Subscription credits. Still usable through the rest of your billing period, since your subscription stays active until the last day. At period end, they zero out and you drop to the free tier’s 10 credits/month.
- One-time credits. Preserved permanently and never affected by cancellation. If you had 500 one-time credits when you cancelled, you’ll still have 500 six months later.
- Free tier credits. Reset monthly on your billing anniversary and don’t roll over, whether or not you’ve cancelled a paid plan.
- Coupon wallet credits. Subscription-tied coupon credits zero out when the subscription ends; one-time coupon credits are preserved forever.
- Gift link credits. An active gift subscription continues until the gift’s own natural expiry, since cancelling a separate Stripe subscription doesn’t affect it. After the gift expires, you drop to the free tier.
For example, on a Growth plan with 500 subscription credits and 200 one-time credits at the moment you cancel:
| Time | Subscription | One-time | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel day | 500 | 200 | 700 |
| End of period | 10 (free tier) | 200 | 210 |
| Next month, and onward | 10 (free tier) | 200 | 210 |
If you resubscribe later, your one-time credits are still there and a fresh monthly allocation is added on top; the two pools simply coexist as usual.
Credits don’t expire based on time, except subscription credits at month or period end. One-time credits and coupon credits stay put until you use them or delete your account.
