Glossary

Glossary

A quick-reference glossary of terms you’ll run into across your brandID dashboard and public page, from the basics of your bio-link to payments, payouts, and the difference between a Subscription block and a brandID subscription plan.

Your bio-link (also called your brandID page) is your public page at brandid.app/yourname. It’s the one link you share everywhere, and it holds every other link, product, and monetization tool you set up.

Your handle (also called a slug) is the part of your page’s address after brandid.app/, for example “yourname” in brandid.app/yourname. It’s 3 to 30 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, periods, and underscores only, and you choose it when you claim your page.

A block is any single item you add to your page from the Links & Products list in the editor, like a Button, a Blog, a Tip Jar, or a Subscription block. Each block has its own settings and can be reordered, published, or removed on its own.

Publish controls whether a page or block is visible to visitors. Something that isn’t published still exists in your editor, but won’t show up on your live page until you turn it on.

If you own more than one brandID page, your active page is the one currently loaded in your editor at /admin. You can switch which page is active from your profile menu without leaving the screen you’re on.

A few block types, including Billboards, Affiliate Products/Product Gallery, and the Subscription block, are capped at one per page. If you try to add a second one from the Discover menu, brandID takes you to the existing block instead of creating a duplicate.

The Exclusive badge appears on a locked block or file. It means a visitor has to buy access, either by subscribing to one of your Subscription block’s tiers or by making a one-time purchase, before they can view it.

The Top Menu is the row of tabs near the top of your public page that lets visitors filter which links and posts they see, for example “Links,” “Shop,” or “About.” You manage it as a pinned item in your editor.

A collection is a named group of products inside a Product Gallery or Digital Product block, useful for organizing what you sell. You can also tie a collection to a specific Top Menu tab so it only shows there.

These are two completely different things that just happen to share the word “subscription”:

  • Subscription block: a “Subscriptions / Memberships” block you add to your own page to sell recurring or one-time paid access to your content. Your fans pay you through it, and it can gate other blocks or files behind a paywall.
  • brandID subscription plan: brandID’s own paid tiers (Free, Creator, and other tiers), purchased at brandid.app/pricing. You pay brandID for this, and it unlocks premium platform features like a custom domain, removing brandID branding, and wider analytics date ranges.

Note: whenever you see the word “subscription” in brandID, check which of these two it means. They are never the same thing.

A seat is one of the page slots covered by a brandID subscription plan that spans multiple pages. If your plan covers more than one page, moving a page into or out of a seat is free and doesn’t change your bill.

This is the file-size limit tied to your brandID subscription plan, controlling how large a file you’re allowed to upload. It’s separate from any membership tier you set up inside your own Subscription block for your fans.

A digital product is something non-physical you sell through the Digital Product block, like a downloadable file, a paid session, or a custom video. You can deliver it manually after purchase, or set it to deliver automatically.

A tip jar is a block that lets fans send you a one-time support payment. You can present it as a video, an image, a button, or a QR code.

A billboard is a paid ad slot on your page, in the Top, Middle, or Bottom position, that a brand can rent to display their own image or video ad. Each position has its own rate, and the Top slot is always full price.

This setting controls how payments for your store, tips, or subscriptions are collected. “Own” routes payments through your own connected Stripe or PayPal account, so funds go to you directly. “brandID” routes payments through brandID’s shared payment system instead, which is subject to brandID’s fees and terms.

The platform fee is the percentage brandID takes from each sale when you use brandID’s own payment gateway. The exact rate depends on your plan tier and is shown on every payment setup step before you confirm.

Payments Received is money coming in to you: product sales, tips, subscriptions, and media purchases. Payments Made is money going out from you: your brandID plan billing, AI Video Translator charges, and billboard ad spend.

Payouts is the area of your dashboard where you withdraw your earnings to a saved PayPal destination. “Available to withdraw” is your earnings so far minus anything already withdrawn or pending, never shown as less than zero.

An entitlement is the rule tied to your brandID subscription plan that decides whether a feature is fully available, capped at a limit, or locked entirely. A locked feature shows a padlock and prompts you to upgrade your plan.

Affiliate Earnings are commission income you earn when someone buys a product you’ve promoted through your Product Gallery or Affiliate Products block, separate from your own store sales.
