The Editor: Building Your Page
Everything about the page builder itself: adding and organizing blocks, the live phone preview, and the Design tab where you style how your page looks.
The editor is the “Links & Products” screen at brandid.app/admin. It’s the page you land on right after you sign in, and it’s where you build the actual content of your public page: adding links and products, arranging them in order, and turning them on or off.
The screen is split into two halves on desktop:
- On the left, a scrollable column with the Quick Links bar at the top, a Pinned Items row for sections you’ve already started (Social Channels, Top Menu, Affiliate Products, Subscription), your full list of blocks, a Social Media/Emails/Websites section, and a carousel promoting other brandID tools.
- On the right, a live phone preview of your actual public page, updating as you make changes.
On smaller screens the phone preview is hidden and the block list takes the full width.
Both buttons sit near the top of the editor, but they do different things:
- + Quick Links is a shortcut. It instantly adds a plain “Links” (button) block to your page and opens it for editing, no extra steps.
- + Add Products/Links opens the full Discover picker, where you can choose from every block type brandID offers, organized into categories. This button also reappears as a floating bar pinned to the bottom of the screen once you scroll past the top one, so it’s always within reach.
The Discover picker groups every block type into six sections, each shown as a grid of tiles. You can type into the “Search items…” box to filter across all of them at once. Here’s what each section is for:
- Sell & earn: Affiliate Products, Digital Products, a Subscription block (paid access to your own content for your fans), Tipping, Rent Out Billboards, and selling Audios/Songs, Videos, or Downloadables.
- Links: plain Links, Custom Links, Email Me, Websites, and Social Channels.
- Content: Blog, Image, Carousel/Gallery, Video, Audio, Podcasts, Promo Code, QR Code, Media Kit, Download, and Location/Map.
- Actions: My Contact, Receive Contact Details, and Giveaways.
- Design elements: Divider, Top Menu, Header, Text Passage, Banner, Button, and Spacer, for organizing and decorating your page rather than linking anywhere.
- Embed apps: Typeform, Twitch, Facebook, Calendly, Pinterest, YouTube, GoFundMe, TikTok, and Spring Shop.
The Subscription block here is different from brandID’s own paid plans at brandid.app/pricing. A Subscription block is something you add to sell paid access to your own content to your fans. brandID’s plans are what you pay brandID to unlock premium features on your account. See the Plans & Billing article for that side of things.
A few tiles may show a “Soon” tag with a “Coming soon” tooltip, meaning that block type isn’t available to add yet.
A few block types are limited to one per page: Rent Out Billboards, Affiliate Products, and the Subscription block. If you already have one on your page and you click that tile again in Discover, brandID won’t create a duplicate. Instead it scrolls you to the existing block and shows a short message, such as:
- “Billboard already added.”
- “You can only add new affiliate products into the existing one but different collections or social posts.”
- “Subscription Plan already added, add your extra plans here.”
Every other block type can be added as many times as you like.
Each block card has a small drag handle (six dots) on the left edge. Press and drag it up or down to move that block, then drop it where you want it. The new order saves automatically, no extra “save” click needed, and it’s reflected right away in the live preview and on your public page.
Dragging works with a mouse, on touchscreens, and with a keyboard (once a handle is focused, use the arrow keys). The same drag mechanism reorders your Social Media/Emails/Websites channels in their own section, separately from the main block list.
Every block card has a publish toggle in its header. Switch it on to show that block on your public page, or off to hide it without deleting it.
If you try to turn a block on before it’s fully set up, the toggle won’t switch and you’ll see a short inline message explaining what’s missing, for example:
- “Add a URL before turning this link on.”
- “Set up Email Me before publishing this link.”
- “Set up your billboard before publishing this link.”
- “Add a redemption website before publishing a scratch-card giveaway.”
Once you flip the toggle, it briefly shows “Turning on…” or “Turning off…” before settling into its new state.
Tip: for link blocks that just need a URL, pasting in a valid link for the first time will automatically turn the block on, so you don’t always need to flip the toggle by hand.
Along the bottom of an expanded block card you’ll find a row of actions:
- Settings (opens the block’s editor so you can change its content and options).
- Analytics (a chart icon showing that block’s performance, available on paid plans with chart analytics).
- Notify subscribers (a bell icon, for alerting people who follow updates from that block).
- Clone (makes a copy of the block).
- Delete (a trash icon, which opens a confirm dialog: “Delete this button?”).
You can also click the title text at the top of a card, next to the pencil icon, to rename it inline without opening the full editor.
Deleting a block is confirmed with a dialog first, but once you confirm, it’s removed for good. If you just want to hide something temporarily, use the publish toggle instead of deleting it.
brandID doesn’t show a “saved” pop-up after every change, changes save silently in the background. You’ll only see a message if something goes wrong, such as “Could not save your changes. Please try again.”
The panel on the right side of the editor (and of the Design tab) shows a phone-shaped mockup of your actual public page, updating live as you add blocks, reorder them, or change your design. Above the phone you’ll find:
- Your page’s URL in a pill, with a Copy button next to it.
- An Open in new tab link, to view your live public page in a full browser tab.
- A Get Custom Domain link, for connecting your own domain instead of the brandid.app link.
Underneath the phone there’s a local “Live”/”private” toggle for your own reference while you work. The preview pane only appears on wider screens, on smaller devices you’ll want to use “Open in new tab” to check how your page really looks.
The Design tab lives at brandid.app/design and is where you control how your page looks, separate from what’s on it. Like the main editor, it shows a live phone preview on the right while you work, and a status pill near the top switches between “Saving…” and “All changes saved” so you always know your changes went through.
There are six sections, arranged as tabs across the top:
- Profile, your name, photo, and bio.
- Templates, start from a ready-made look.
- Background, flat color, image, or video.
- Buttons, shape and finish for your links.
- Fonts, separate typefaces for your profile and your buttons.
- Colors, global colors across your page.
The Profile tab controls how your name, photo, and bio appear at the top of your page. Its main control is a Profile type switch with three options:
- Classic shows your photo.
- Avatar shows the default brandID avatar instead of a photo.
- Advanced unlocks a full banner-style layout, available on premium plans (a locked padlock icon appears if your plan doesn’t include it, clicking it opens an upgrade prompt).
When you upload a photo, you’ll crop it square for Classic or Avatar, or choose Landscape, Square, or Portrait if you’re using Advanced.
The rest of the Profile tab covers your display name, a bio field (up to 1,000 characters, with a live counter), a toggle to show “@yourusername” under your photo, a Personal/Business/Creator specialty picker, and a list of categories you can add or remove as chips.
The Templates tab lets you pick your category from a dropdown, then browse a horizontal carousel of template tiles for that category. Hover a tile to see “Apply this template,” then click it to apply.
Applying a template overwrites your whole design at once (background, buttons, fonts, and colors together), not just one setting. It doesn’t touch the actual blocks on your page, only how they look.
While a template is applying, you’ll see “Applying template…” briefly. If templates don’t load, you’ll see “Couldn’t load templates. Please refresh,” and a category with nothing in it yet shows “No templates in this category yet.”
The Background tab lets you choose your page background from four modes: Flat color, Gradient, Image, or Video. Image and Video backgrounds are premium features, they’ll appear dimmed with a padlock if your plan doesn’t include them.
- Flat color opens a simple color swatch picker.
- Gradient opens gradient controls.
- Image or Video opens a media picker with tabs for uploading your own file or browsing free stock libraries (Pixabay, Unsplash/Coverr, Pexels, or your own Library).
Uploaded videos are optimized in the background, you’ll see “Optimizing your video… it will appear on your page automatically when it’s ready.” If processing fails, your previous background stays in place and you’re asked to try a different clip.
If your Profile type is set to Advanced and you switch your background to an image or video, brandID will ask you to confirm first, since Advanced’s full-width banner photo can’t be combined with an image/video background. Confirming switches your profile back to Classic.
There’s also a separate “focus area” background you can enable, a secondary color, photo, or gradient layer behind your content column, independent of the main page background.
Buttons lets you pick a shape and finish for every link on your page, grouped into Fill, Outline, Shadow, and Special (rectangle, rounded, or circular for the first three; things like torn edges, jiggly edges, or a vector look for Special). You can also set your button color, button text color, a shadow color if you’re using a shadow style, and a transparency slider for most fill styles.
Fonts lets you set a typeface separately for your Profile text and for your Links & buttons text. Search Google Fonts (or a curated fallback list), preview each one with a live sample line, then adjust its weight/style, size (12 to 30px), letter spacing, and text color.
Colors covers the remaining global colors: all buttons, all buttons’ text, your profile title/bio/header text, and (only when your background mode is Flat color) the background color itself.
These are two smaller standalone screens that support the editor:
- Post preview (opened from the Blog block editor’s Preview button) shows your unsaved blog draft full-page in a new tab so you can check how it reads before publishing, without leaving or saving the editor. It updates live as you keep typing in the original tab. If you open it directly with no draft, it says: “Open this from the blog editor’s Preview button to see your post here.”
- The Stripe/PayPal connect return page is where you land after finishing (or leaving) Stripe or PayPal’s own payout account setup. It rechecks your account status and shows one of a few outcomes: a success message once your account is fully connected, an “incomplete” message with a button to continue setup, or an “expired”/”canceled” message with a retry option. From there, a “Go to Dashboard” button takes you back to Settings’ Payments section.
