Payment & Refunds
How paid bookings work if you are being invited: pay securely, get receipts, or request a refund.
Paid bookings are charged at the time of booking. You will see the price clearly before confirming.
1. The Price Is Shown On The Booking Form
After picking a time slot, the booking form shows: – The event name. – The duration. – The price.
If the host accepts both Stripe and PayPal, you will see two payment buttons.
2. Pay With A Credit Card (Stripe)
- Click Pay with card.
- A Stripe-hosted form opens.
- Enter card number, expiry, CVC.
- Click Pay $X.
- The booking confirms immediately on success.
3. Pay With PayPal
- Click Pay with PayPal.
- You are redirected to PayPal.
- Sign in to your PayPal.
- Confirm the payment.
- You are redirected back to the booking page with a confirmation.
4. Discount Codes
On the payment screen, click Add discount code. Enter the code (case-insensitive). The price updates.
If the code is invalid or expired, you will see an error.
5. Apple Pay And Google Pay
On compatible devices (Safari on iOS for Apple Pay, Chrome on Android for Google Pay), you may see the Apple Pay or Google Pay button. One tap completes the booking using your saved payment method.
6. Receipts
After payment: – You receive a Bookme confirmation email. – You receive a Stripe or PayPal receipt for the charge (separate email). – Both include the amount, transaction ID, and date.
For tax-deductible receipts, the Bookme confirmation includes an invoice PDF.
7. Failed Payments
If your card is declined: – Try a different card. – Switch to PayPal. – Contact your bank if the issue persists.
The slot stays open for a brief period while you retry.
8. Refunds
See the next article for refund details.
Refunds are governed by the host’s refund policy. The policy is shown on the booking form before you pay.
1. Cancel Through Bookme
Open your confirmation email, click Cancel meeting, confirm.
If the cancellation is inside the refund window, the refund is processed automatically.
2. How Long Refunds Take
- Stripe (cards): 5-10 business days to appear on your card statement.
- PayPal: Usually instant to PayPal balance; 3-5 days to bank.
3. Confirm The Refund
After cancellation: – Bookme sends a cancellation confirmation noting the refund amount. – Stripe or PayPal sends a separate refund confirmation when the refund completes.
Both emails arrive eventually. Stripe’s may take longer.
4. The Refund Policy
Each event has a refund policy you saw when paying: – Full refund anytime. Cancel for any reason, full refund. – Refund up to X hours before. Cancel within X hours of meeting = full refund. Outside = no refund. – No refunds. Cancellation does not refund.
If you cancel outside the refund window: – The booking is still cancelled. – No money is returned. – You can still see the cancellation in your records.
5. Partial Refunds
Some hosts issue partial refunds in special cases. If you and the host agree to a partial refund (e.g. the meeting was halved, or there was an issue): – Cancel through Bookme. – Email the host asking for a partial refund. – The host issues a manual partial refund from their dashboard.
6. Dispute Through Your Bank
If a host fails to refund a legitimately-eligible refund: – First, email the host with a polite reminder. – Then, contact [email protected] to escalate. – As a last resort, dispute through your bank or PayPal. This may resolve your refund but damages the host’s payment-processor reputation.
7. Refund For A Host Cancellation
If the HOST cancels: – Refund is automatic regardless of the refund policy. – The cancellation comes from their side; you should not be penalized.
